A lip-reading specialist has revealed what Nicole Kidman and Salma Hayek said to each other during their exceedingly unpleasant encounter. A number of other celebrities, including Katy Perry, joined Kidman at Balenciaga’s latest presentation at Paris Fashion Week on September 30.
The front row included Anna Wintour, Kyle MacLachlan, Bill Skarsgård, Salma Hayek, and her husband François-Henri Pinault, as well as Kidman and the singer from Family Affair.

Pinault is the CEO of Kering, which owns luxury fashion companies such as Balenciaga, Gucci, and Saint Laurent. With this in mind, Hayek did everything she could last night to assist her husband’s companies gain exposure, including having A-listers Kidman and Perry pose for photographs at the event.
But an unquestionably unpleasant exchange between Kidman and Hayek has gone viral, with the Big Little Lies star allegedly pushing Hayek away from her.

In the video, Hayek, well known for her roles in Frida, Desperado, and House of Gucci, attempted to persuade Kidman to work with photographers.
Now, experienced lip reader Jeremy Freeman has examined what the couple said to one another.

Freeman reported that Hayek said, “Let’s turn there.” Kidman said, “Hey, I’m fine, I’m good,” before kissing Perry. “There, that’s enough; it’s fine,” she said later. Hayek reportedly looked upset after Kidman’s rejection. After walking away, Kidman appeared to remark, ‘You don’t need that’, while Hayek answered, ‘I do’, although it’s unclear what they were referring to. Neither celebrity has officially addressed the issue.

Despite the unpleasant encounter, Hayek posted a selfie of herself and Kidman on her Instagram page.
On October 1, the Grown Ups actress posted several photos, writing, “Finally, last night was the grand finale of my Paris Fashion Week in 2025.” The post included many images of Hayek, a video of Perry displaying what she had in the inside zipper area of her dress, a short film of Hayek greeting Lindsay Lohan from across the runway, and a snapshot of her and Kidman together, with Kidman staring down at the ground.
One individual commented on the images with the actress, saying, “Nicole was mean to you, but you still posted a picture with her.” “You have kindness in your heart.” Another individual inquired, “Nicole was so rude to you; why did you take pictures with her?”
